As the Season changes and our summer glow fades it is time to alter hair color to compliment our skin tone. It is the beginning of autumn and the end of summer, which means that the its whimsical summer hot and humid and there is no point pony tail, is no longer. Time to turn that hair into a polished look that compliments the mad men inspired wardrobe for fall. We are talking clean lines from the neck down, which means options from the neck up. Create the edge through a solid progressively darker color underneath with an edgy cut or a clean line cut with the splash of edge through color.
A quick change that creates a totallly different look is a fringe. Not all face shapes and facial proportions are meant for a fringe. A consultation with your hairstylist (me, just saying) is advised. The possibilities are endless, however the choice that is made should always compliment you.
I want to address those lovely blondes out there whose hair cuticle is more sensitive due to the process of lightening. Basically the hair is an open wound and the sun is able to create more damage then say a brunette. IT IS TIME TO NOURISH! This can be acheived through a consistent regimen of deep conditioner bought or home made. It should be done twice a week and left on the hair for 20 minutes wrapped in plastic or a shower cap. One of my favorites is the Moroccan deep conditioning treatment. The at home recipe can be found below and kept in the refrigerator for up to a week.
Here is a some advice that will save your hair no matter the texture or color and this MUST BE USED AT ALL TIMES! It is that little nozzle that goes on the tip of your dryer that will save the life of your hair. It always shocks and horrifies me when I hear that it is usually tossed. I must apologize on behalf of all those hairstylist that you have been to before that have not informed you of this. The general population of woman that I have spoken with have this false belief that it takes less time to dry their hair without it. One of the reasons that the at home blow dry seems to never look like a salon blow dry is lack of nozzle. The nozzle allows direct airflow to the section of hair that you are drying, which creates a more efficient and smoother blow dry. The other reason a salon blow dry differs is because a stylist will dry the hair not only to get it dry but to style it. What I mean by this is they dry a section until they see smoothness and shine, past the point of dry. At home most will just grab a flat iron which puts to much stress and heat on the hair. Just a few more minutes with a ceramic brush and a nozzled blow dryer over each section of hair can create the same shine but with more movement. Dry your hair with intent to style and you will see this approach will give you better results.
